The view from my balcony. And a frequent visitor, who also seems to enjoy the view
(or maybe it's just the mosquitoes he's after)

One of the brilliant things you find in Taiwan are 'Tea Shops'. They are everywhere, the three shown in the pictures above are all on the same junction (right near my home). Not tea shops in any UK way, but rather little outlets, that serve all forms of hot, but mostly cold drinks. Popular amongst the drinks available are milk teas, iced fruit juices and smoothies. The Mr Wish drink is an iced Kiwi Fruit juice, and on a hot day it is the perfect thirst quencher.

Peace and tranquillity at the Taichung Park.

Street food, Taiwan style. This was being served on a street corner at Saturday lunchtime. If you ask a local, or someone from Asia, they will tell you that Duck parts are delicious, a real treat. The Taiwanese lady who was selling this food patiently explained to me what each tasty offering was. The Taiwanese have to be admired for not wasting any part of the bird, as you can see from Duck heads, neck, heart, wings, feet and tongue (they are the things in the little box, bottom left of the second picture). Oh, and if you were wondering, I got my lunch at Subway!

The weather is hot and humid, so a nice cold drink is always appreciated. The chocolate smoothie (at just £1.26) is great for giving yourself 'brain freeze'.

A typical junction in Taichung. But what can you see in this picture?
In the middle of the city of Taichung is a very pretty park. Very green and peaceful, and it provides a little bit of shade from the sun with it's many trees.

This is a common site in Taichung (above picture). You turn a corner and come across a 7-Eleven with every inch of space outside taken up by scooters. Notice the Mickey Mouse sticker (picture below) which is a little uncommon, as the custom job of choice seems to be anything Hello Kitty!!

Welcome to Taichung. This is the view from my hotel room (on the 12th floor). Taichung = scooters, crazy pedestrian crossings, scooters, many buses, scooters, humid (and it's only May!), scooters and did I mention the scooters?
